Alabaster DePlume

Alabaster DePlume is a London-based saxophonist, singer, songwriter, activist, orator, and poet-philosopher whose work occupies a singular space in contemporary music. Drawing from folk, jazz, electronic, punk and indie, he crafts experimental pop that feels emotional, joyful, and intensely alive. His songs are built on sonorous circular melodies and luminous tones that transmit calmness and generosity in warm waves — unless they’re raging against complacency and the everyday inhumanity of end-times capitalism. Most importantly, he brings a valuable transparency to his work. „This is what I’m really doing,“ he says. „I want to talk about why I’m doing this, and how I’m doing this.“ His breakthrough came with To Cy & Lee: Instrumentals Vol. 1 (2020), followed by the critically acclaimed Gold: Go Forward In The Courage Of Your Love (2022), Come With Fierce Grace (2024), and most recently A Blade Because A Blade Is Whole (2025). Each record deepens a body of work that is as philosophically rigorous as it is emotionally open. His reach extends well beyond his own releases. He has collaborated with Beth Orton, Kamasi Washington, Sampha, Rozi Plain, Gregory Uhlmann, Everything Is Recorded, Florence Welch, and Sam Morton, and has toured with Bon Iver — who have also sampled his work.
