Sydney “Syd” Minsky Sargeant (b. 2001) is an English singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, best known as the driving force behind post‑punk outfit Working Men’s Club. Following years of intense touring and creative output, Syd embarks on a new solo chapter with Lunga, his debut album due September 12, 2025 via Domino.
The album spans 12 tracks that Syd began writing as a teenager in Todmorden, evolving into deeply personal meditations on growth, connection, and self‑discovery. Sonically, Lunga diverges sharply from his band’s abrasive dance‑punk, embracing introspective guitar, subtle electronics, and lush string touches; earning comparisons to Nick Drake, Bon Iver, and Robert Kirby arrangements.
